We present a trio of paleotropical aquariums located in the tropical greenhouse, showcasing the flora and fauna of the “Old World” tropics—Africa, Asia, Australia, and Oceania. Each 2,500-liter aquarium offers a unique glimpse into freshwater habitats, ranging from the colorful cichlids of Lake Malawi to the rich communities of fish and plants in Southeast Asia and Australia following the recent renovation in 2025.
The second set of three aquariums at the entrance to the subtropical greenhouse showcases the life of the “New World” tropics—Central and South America. The exhibit features Central American cichlids with interesting behaviors, South American piranhas and cichlids, as well as classic Amazonian species such as tetras and angelfish, complemented by a selection of American aquatic plants. Their renovation is planned for 2026.
In the garden, you will find an interesting reptile exhibit featuring various species of animals kept here. In the entrance hall, there is a terrarium with Phelsuma geckos from Madagascar; the tropical greenhouse is home to aquatic turtles (including the red-eared slider and Reeves’s turtle); and in the outdoor area, you can encounter land turtles such as the marginated tortoise and the green tortoise. The exhibit is accompanied by information about their biology, origin, and interesting facts about their care.
The aviaries showcase selected songbirds and other birds of Australian fauna. In the indoor hall, you can see the diamond dove and the zebra finch, two attractive species of small birds. The outdoor exhibit features an aviary with budgerigars, which display their social behavior and the beauty of their colorful plumage.
